Colored pencil portrait gift for someone. Raccoons are so adorable! <3 This didn't take as long as I thought it would but I hould have spent some more time on the background and the tree.
I really should do more colored pencil works, I love that medium. Crits are welcome!!
God your traditional pieces are absolutely stunning, you use all of the mediums so well. ;; Not really a crit but a suggestion, using different hues to shade the raccoon vs the tree might've helped differentiate the two subjects more, as right now at a glance the raccoon almost looks morphed to the tree (unless that was what you were going for dkfgjdg xD). For example, shading the raccoon with more red colours while colouring the tree with a little more yellow or blue-based shade. That way your subject pops but if you use complementary colours to shade both the tree and the raccoon, the picture is still harmonious.
But what do I know, I don't use traditional media very often. xD This is really excellent, lovely anatomy and composition. <3
I agree with you 100%! I accidentally put down too much of a base color magenta on the tree. I pressesd a bit too hard and I couldn't go back and fix it all. I just had to try and nuetralize it and made a mess.
Thanks so much! I learned my lesson from this, lol.
